Consumer Electronics - iriver Kicks Off New MP3 Factory in China

Korean MP3 maker iriver's new factory in Dong Guan, China, launched into mass production in May 2005, which is two months in advance of the original plan. Annual capacity at the plant is set at around four million units. Adding in the three million unit capacity from the existing plant, the maker is hopeful of doubling its total capacity in Dong Guan to seven million units in 2005. Judging from the current scale of the new factory, the next five years is expected to see output at the new plant increase in accordance to market demand, to as much as eight million units per year.
